Get your ink ready!

Since you’re an Inkling without experience, you need a little introduction and a short tutorial that will tell you what to do and how to actually play the game. All this you will learn from the hosts of the local news channel who will clue you in on everything you need to know. As long as you have a zero level, you won’t be able to buy neither clothes nor guns. So it’s time to participate in some battles to level up!

You can fight both in solo mode, one player against another, or plunge into team battles where up to 8 players can take part. The goal of these team combats is to ink more of the map than your opponents. Ink? Another strange term which means exactly what it means – the inking process is happening with the help of special weapons that can look quite different, from a bucket full of paint to something like a paintball gun. Aside from your main weapon, you will also have a bunch of grenades and a special ability that you can use to deliver critical damage. It can vary from Inkling to Inlking – for instance, it can be a self-targeted rocket gun or even a cloud raining ink. The scale of this special gun is restored in direct proportion to the territory you have been able to ink.

Paint most of the map and win!

Of course, you won’t be able to keep paining the map non-stop because the volume of your ink tank is limited. But you can quickly refill it by turning into a squid and diving into paint of the same color as your team. The squid shape has some other benefits too – for instance, while being a squid, you can move along the paint of your color much faster. And it’s poisonous for your enemies – when they are standing on an area inked with paint of your color, they lose health.
